Setting: It’s More Than Just A Place

Use your setting to set the tone, not just the scene. What do I mean by that? I mean your setting is more than just a place. Night can be dark, deadly and filled with lurking shadows and terrible foreboding. The perfect setting for a horror or murder mystery. But, it can also be beautiful with the moonlight glistening and the stars shining in the night. The perfect setting for a romantic scene between two people. It all depends on how you set the scene, on the tone and mood that you create with what’s around your character. Use the description of where your story takes place to set the tone and mood of your story.
